Self-Advocacy Meeting for Teens and Adults with Autism (Runs at same time as general meeting)
The Autism Society of Dallas is sponsoring a self-advocacy group for teens and adults with autism. Teens must be in grade 7 or above to participate. Adults with autism of any age are welcome. Participants will learn about their autism condition and its' effect on their lives while developing a great appreciation for their individual gifts and talents. Self-knowledge and awareness is a key point in learning to advocate for one's self.

The self-advocacy meetings will run at the same time as the chapter general meeting each month during the school yar. The meetings will be held at the same location only in a different room. Self-advocates are invited to bring an object, book, picture or other item that represents their talents, gifts, and interests. Pizza and soft drinks will be served. Please bring $5 to cover the cost. Since the participants will engage in activities to develop a greater understanding of autism, it is important that they know they have this condition of autism prior to participating in the meetings.
