Ticket to Ride
A 50 mile motorcycle ride through Dallas County
sponsored by
North Dallas Harley Davidson and The Eagle 97.1 for the benefit of the Autism Society of America and local area chapters was held on Saturday, September 27,2008.
In the early morning, cyclists throughout the metroplex and as far away as Jacksonville, Florida began arriving to ride to support families and individuals affected by autism. Starbucks provided morning coffee to the many participants and volunteers.
At 10:30, kickstands went up, engines were turned on and the thunder rolled as 460 motorcycles departed.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Department escorted them on the 50 mile ride that went through parts of Sachese, Rowlette, Garland, Dallas, Wiley. Without the help of the Sheriff's Dept., the ride to support individuals with autism would not have been possible.
At noon cyclists returned for lunch provided by Dickey's Barbecue Pit.
Much appreciation to Voodoo Blue for the music and entertainment,
a silent auction with gift baskets donated by North Dallas Harley Davidson and a brokered auction of donated gifts for the benefit of autism.
Special thanks to Terry (left) and Lex( right) of North Dallas Harley Davidson, the Eagle 97.1, and the many volunteers who made this event possible.
From the Autism Society of America and local chapters.
